100% site wins 4+3 and backdating

Finsec Memebrs at EBSFinsec members at EBS have just finished negotiating their agreement and voted to ratify it this morning.

Vanessa Priest, the EBS delegate, said that the big issue for her team was a fair percentage pay offer.

“When we negotiated last time we ended up falling under CPI, so this time we were really focused on having a catch up.”

This time they won a 4% pay rise for the first year of their two year agreement and a 3% pay rise for the second. Importantly these pay rises will be backdated to 30 August, despite the agreement not expiring until 10 November.

Leave was another important issue for the team. Their settlement included improved long service leave and society leave entitlements.

“We already had four weeks annual leave, but with the new legislation in April and the legal minimum catching up, we were seeking extra to ensure that our agreement remains as good as what it was.”

Negotiations have been tough for the Finsec delegates and advocate, but they had the support of all EBS members. EBS is a 100% union site and the members attended a lot of meetings and discussions before negotiations to decide their issues, direction and strategy.

“It has been quite tough, one of the longest negotiations we have known of in the history of EBS. But we had 100% commitment to the union and we stood our ground.”
