Life better with no money

A German woman says she’s healthier, wealthier and happy after giving up cash 15 years ago.

Heidemarie Schwermer (69) travels from town to town with all her worldly possessions – a suitcase, a mobile phone and a laptop. She gets by on bartering and presents, and has written about her experiences in a book The Star Money Experiment.

She left her comfortable home after being irritated by the greedy consumer society, and says her life is much better and less stressful without cash. She even refused a cash advance for her book, telling her publishers to give the money to charity instead!
