Spreading the Finsec message

In good Finsec news…delegate Chris Walton from insurance company Marsh Ltd has helped sign up two of his colleagues to Finsec, getting the union message rolling in a large workplace with only a handful of union members.

Following the Finsec Insurance Forum in Wellington last December, Chris struck up a conversation in the tearoom about the benefits of having a union, and rushed off to get membership forms to follow up.

“My workmates were saying it would be good if we had a union to improve our workplace – and I said, we do – it’s Finsec,” said Chris. “Two new staff signed up, and are helping to spread the message about our union as they are working in a different area from me.”

A good lesson for worksites where we already have a Finsec presence that the best people to grow our union are our members!
