It’s okay: new campaign to make sure we access all our rights at ANZ National

Finsec members at ANZ National have launched a new campaign – unusually, its not about fighting for new rights at work. Instead, the “It’s okay” campaign is about making sure that all Finsec members and delegates working at the bank enforce the conditions that we’ve already negotiated and won.

Finsec delegates have already had conference calls to discuss the campaign.   They supported our plan to ensure that delegates have time to talk with new staff and play them the Finsec DVD, making sure that overtime is claimed,  that travelling time for training etc is paid for, and that rights to appeal C ratings are fully utilised.

Union Councillor David Baker said delegates were very enthusiastic about the campaign and keen to make sure all members know their rights and exercise them. “The response to C ratings is a very good example. Some staff feels that they need to agree to the rating at the meeting, but we need to all know that we don’t have to sign immediately. We can stop and take some time with it. It’s okay to ask questions, and it’s okay to seek advice.”

“This campaign is about showing that union activity is a normal part of our working day at ANZ National. Getting better conditions doesn’t stop at negotiations – it’s about what we all do at work, every day. And it is okay!”
