Finsec members meet to discuss quake

Around 25 Finsec delegates from the Christchurch area met last night to discuss issues for bank workers arising from the recent earthquake.

Mary McKeown from ANZ Sydenham said the meeting was really worthwhile and showed that the issues were the same for staff across all the banks. “We gave bouquets for the banks on their response so far, and aired concerns about issues moving forward, particularly targets.”

“Our targets need to take into account the difficulty with some sales, especially insurances, and the fact that in branches like my own we are still having very few customers coming in,” said Mary.

“The meeting reassured us that we haven’t been forgotten and won’t be dealing with these issues on our own,” said Mary. “I’m very impressed with the Finsec initiative of getting us together to share our concerns.”

The issues identified at the meeting will be raised with all the banks.
