Rendezvous lockout over

The lock out of Rendezvous Hotel housekeepers is now over, with a ratification of an agreement of a 2% pay increase (better than Westpac!) for one year, with no loss of sick leave.
Service and Food Workers Union Northern Region Secretary, Jill Ovens, said that the locked out workers appreciated the support from other unions, and are still suffering from the loss of wages. There is a fundraiser for these workers being held in Auckland on Friday 9 July, at Trades Hall, 147 Great North Rd. Be there from 5.30  for nibbles and a cash bar, $10 entry.
The workers are in good spirits. They clean 18 rooms a shift, which is well above the industry norm, and are now organizing common meal and rest breaks so they can maintain their solidarity. They are also insisting that everyone goes home at knock off time, whether or not the rooms are finished!
