A rendezvous with a lockout

Our fellow union members, Service and Food Workers Union members who are housekeeping staff Auckland’s Rendezvous Hotel have been locked out by their employers since 17 June and need our help.

These are low paid workers, starting on the minimum wage of $12.75 an hour and have not had a pay rise since May 2008. The hotel’s 1.5% offer (or around 20 cents an hour) was dependent on staff giving up some of their sick leave.

How you can help:
• Phone the Rendezvous Hotel on 0800 887 808 OR
email: gm.auckland@rendezvoushotels.com and ask them to do the right thing by these workers.
• Donate food or money to the SFWU office in Auckland
• Come along to pickets in Auckland. Phone the SFWU on 0800 864 661 (0800 UNION1) for times.
• You can also donate by internet transfer to:
Bank a/c no 02-0264-0293900-000
AC name: The Service And Food Workers Union Nga Ringa Tota Inc.
Reference: Rendezvous

Finsec members have supported locked out workers in previous disputes by running worksite collections. This would be a great way for everyone to support these low-paid workers in their dispute with an exploitative employer.
