Finsec wins legal case against BNZ

Finsec has won a declaration in the Employment Relations Authority that says the BNZ must permit union organisers to access the BNZ Insurances site in Wellington.

The finding in this case highlights that, except for very rare circumstances, it is legal and normal for union staff to be able to come into BNZ worksites to talk with staff.

Finsec took this case to make sure BNZ workers’ legal rights were respected.

The bank had been saying that we were not allowed to access the BNZ insurance underwriting floor unless we agreed to go in a side room where individual workers could come to see us.
