Truckload of cash

Chinese bank staff were stunned when a customer turned up with a van load of bank notes to deposit – 500,000 one yuan notes (worth around 20 cents each).

And, unluckily for staff, the bank notes were old and in poor condition so all had to be hand counted – and eight cashiers in three hours managed to count less than 10% of the van-load!

The bank in Xi’an, Shaanzi province said the customer called ahead to say they would be bringing a van through for safety but failed to mention the amount of notes!
