R-E-S-P-E-C-T – new campaign launched

Finsec members have launched a Respect campaign in Westpac back office sites to ensure members and delegates are aware of and access all their rights in the workplace.

Craig McKinnon is a Union Councillor from the Canterbury Centre and says empowerment is key to the campaign. “We want to make sure that members and delegates are not isolated, and that there is respect for our rights at work. We’ve seen that staff can be picked off one by one and treated very differently, and we want to end that by banding together across our worksites.”

“The goal of our campaign is to empower Finsec members and delegates.”

In his own worksite, Craig says one of the first issues that will be addressed is sick leave, and ensuring that staff don’t get hassled over sick leave. “We want a consistent approach to sick leave on each floor and for everyone to understand how to access their sick leave entitlements.”
