Dude, where’s my pay rise?

While Westpac has previously passed on the negotiated increase to all casual staff, following bargaining this year a number of Westpac casual staff got in contact with Finsec to say that they hadn’t received the 2.25% increase.

Finsec has raised the issue with the bank, who have come back and confirmed that any casual staff earning above the minimum rate for their role have not been given an increase. Union Council Chair Maxine Mullen described this as completely unfair. “Casuals perform a really important job and shouldn’t be treated as second class citizens.”

Maxine says the Union Council want to hear from casuals out there. “If enough people are concerned about the issue we can take it up further collectively,” she says.

If you’re a casual at Westpac, e-mail union@finsec.org.nz with your details and your thoughts on not receiving the increase.
