Brazilian bank workers win on staffing

Not only has Rio de Janeiro recently won the hosting of the 2016 Olympics, Brazilian bank workers have another reason to celebrate.

After 14 days of strike the biggest bank retail network in Brazil, the Banco do Brasil, has promised to hire an extra 10,000 staff in branches over the next two years and the Caixa Economica Federal has promised another 3,000 staff.

Both are state owned banks. The private banks have collectively promised another 6,000 staff. In terms of pay, staff were offered 6% (which is 1.5% above inflation in Brazil)
Many of these staff are still on strike, so we will keep you posted on their progress!
