Attending your local Better Banks meeting: priceless

With just over a week until nationwide paid union Better Banks meetings, BNZ Union Council Chair Callum Francis says that meeting attendance is crucial for anyone who thinks that working for the banks is anything short of perfection.

“Not taking up your right to attend these meetings is just like patting a bank CEO on the back and saying marvellous job – nothing needs to change. And that is just how the banks interpret it when staff don’t come to paid union meetings,” said Callum.

Callum says “Our campaign is not against the banks but about making them better. So if you have any issue or concern about anything at work, here’s your opportunity to make an improvement.”

Callum says that the banks need to recognise that their profits are holding up well or even increasing despite the recession, due to the efforts of their staff. “We appreciate the jobs we have – but it needs to work both ways and the banks need to appreciate their loyal and hardworking staff.”
