Private sector employers don’t plan to pay more (!)

Research released last week revealed the shocking news that private sector employers are planning on paying low salary increases this year. The survey, by human resources remuneration consultants Higbee Schaffler, showed that more than half of employers said salary increases were likely to be less than three percent. Helene Higbee  also told the Dominion that 32 percent of companies offer no redundancy provisions.

Finsec’s General Secretary Andrew Casidy told the Dominion that it was a concern that so many workers had no redundancy provisions. “Those companies surveyed are typically ones that are not represented by Finsec, where the employees do not bargain collectively.”
