Election fever- catch it!

Forget Barack Obama, and all the rest of the candidates out vying for votes – first up is the Finsec Westpac Union Council election. Nominations are currently open and close on September 16.

Jarrod Hunt from Westpac in Hamilton was elected to the Council in the last round of voting and describes being a Councillor as a great experience. “I’ve learned so much more about Finsec, and been able to work
with Westpac staff from around the country on all the issues we all have in common.”

Jarrod says that the Council has been able to lead the way on some great achievements this year. “It’s with the support of our members that we have been able to achieve good outcomes like our 5% pay increase. We face the challenge now of implementing things we’ve won in bargaining – taking on staffing issues and making targets fairer and more ethical.”

Jarrod encourages Westpac delegates to think about joining the Union Council to take on this work in the coming year.
