Finsec arguing for industry approach to security issues

A recent spate of bank robberies has led Finsec to call for an industry wide review of security. Finsec General Secretary Andrew Casidy said that safety of bank staff and customers should be the number one priority.

“Security is best dealt with on an industry basis,” said Casidy. “It doesn’t work for the banks to have significantly different security arrangements from each other.”

Casidy said a full inclusive review of bank security should be undertaken, including a range of stakeholders including the police, the banks and Finsec and should use research and evidence to develop standards across the sector to strike a positive balance between security and accessibility.
