Election madness in ANZ National and Westpac

Nationwide delegate elections were held across all of ANZ National and Westpac banks this week. All branches were allocated half an hour to run their meetings in the morning and back office and call centre meetings have run throughout the week.

A number of new delegates have been elected. Becks Johnson from National Bank Kilbirnie branch in Wellington is one such person.

“I’m looking forward to tackling the issues and winning on them. It’s going to be great to get amongst it and get everyone involved in this year’s campaign”, she said.

Becks thinks it is good to have approachable delegates for both members and non-members to speak to and hopes to grow union membership in her site so that we are in a stronger position in bargaining this year.

Thank you to all those members who have taken on the challenge of being your site delegate for the year ahead. Also, thanks to those who have been a delegate but decided to step down at this election. Your contribution to our union is greatly appreciated.

If your site hasn’t yet held a delegate election yet don’t fear. You are still entitled to hold an election and your Union Councillors will be in touch with you shortly to tee this up.
