Better Banks 2008 kicks off

Our Better Banks campaign is up and running for the new year following the first week of paid union meetings held across the country. At the time of publication, over 60 meetings have already been held with many more scheduled until Tuesday 11 March.

Finsec members who have attended Better Banks meetings say that they left feeling energised and excited about what can be achieved this year. Graham Lee from ANZ Huapai branch in West Auckland said that the 2008 Agenda for Change provided key goals for the campaign and real challenges for Finsec members to sink their teeth into.

“Getting together with staff from other banks is a great inspiration. We are so much stronger when we work across the industry,” said Graham Lee. “I want every Finsec member to feel the strength and unity of the Better Banks campaign and get along to their local meeting. It provides the motivation we need to go back to work and talk to the person sitting next to us about why we’re in the union and why we think they would benefit by joining too.” Better Banks meetings continue over the next two and a half weeks. Next weeks’ schedule includes meetings in Taupo, Hawkes Bay, the Hutt Valley, Timaru and Dunedin. A full schedule has been sent to all sites and is available on
