Better Banks – Unite to Win meetings coming soon

The Better Banks campaign will be kick started for 2008 with a series of paid stopwork meetings beginning on 19 February. There will be over 100 meetings in 47 locations around the country for members to discuss the progress of the campaign so far and discuss plans and objectives for 2008.

Finsec Acting President Kelvin Pycroft said that in 2007 the Better Banks campaign led to good pay rises for many, moves on pay parity and agreements being reached on staffing and target reviews to go ahead this year.

“However, there is much to do to achieve our goals, and we can have more wins this year if we all unite now. All Finsec members have a right to attend these meetings and should make use of this right.”

Pycroft said that uniting to win means drawing these issues together under the Better Banks umbrella to address them for the whole sector. “We’re campaigning to make sure that all banks and financial institutions provide good jobs, decent stable employment and ethical service to our communities.”

Attendance forms have been distributed to all sites and delegates and should be faxed back with details of which members are attending which meetings as soon as possible.
