Consultation on new Westpac pay system begins

French input to the consultationFinsec members at Westpac won significant changes to their pay system in recent years. At the last collective agreement negotiations Westpac agreed to create a skills-based pay system to replace the current target-based pay system. So, now Westpac staff are faced with how to make this happen. A skills-based pay system sounds good, but one that is poorly designed could accidentally, simply become a target-based system in disguise.

Over the next week Westpac delegates will be meeting with staff at their branch or worksite asking them what things they want in the new pay system, and what things they don’t want in it. After that there will be a series of local delegates meetings to discuss what Westpac staff do and don’t want in the new pay system.
