Working together brings a win for ANZ National members

Late last year a group of union members in the cards collections (NBNZ) discovered that their colleagues at ANZ were being paid more for doing similar work.

After everyone in the team decided to challenge the bank’s position they presented their case to the bank for their role to be regraded to the same band as their ANZ colleagues.

The role was reviewed and the outcome was the role would remain the same. Members were disappointed with the result, and decided to pursue the issue further. Finsec Union Councillor Moana Pikia discussed what other options they could look at, and came up with writing a collective letter.

Union members got together to work on the letter, outlining the key points of what they do in their roles, and requested to meet with management with the possible solution of being paid the higher duties.

The Finsec members also talked with the non members in their team about the issue, and the importance of everyone being on board which has resulted in the team being 100% union.

The letter was signed by everyone and presented to management. Management meet with the team, and an amicable solution was arrived at where it was agreed the team will be paid the higher duties allowance.
