ANZ National Delegate Seminars – Growing to win

All good union-minded people know that the key to winning respect from employers is to build power in the workplace. That means growing our membership, having good communication, and an active membership that tells bank that we want a fair and decent settlement this year.

With negotiations at ANZ National set down for the week starting July 23, delegates from across the country are getting together to plan how they are going to build union power on their worksites.

Delegate seminars started this week and continue next week. It is important that every delegate attends a seminar. The bank has authorised up to four hours of release for every ANZ National delegate.

Cathy Lendrum, Chair of the ANZ National Union Council explains the importance of the seminars: “Over the years we have built the best terms and conditions in the banking industry at ANZ National because of the strength and activity of our membership. However if we stop building our workplace power we will slip behind very quickly”.

“Every worksite needs to send a delegate to the seminars which is an important step in ensuring that we do not fall behind the rest of the industry”, says Cathy.
