ANZ National staff show their competence

ANZ National Union CouncilThe ANZ National Union council meeting with the bank on Monday. At that meeting the bank released figures showing that since the new competency assessment procedures were introduced as part of collective negotiations the vast majority of workers who have been assessed have been rated a ‘B’ or higher, and thus moved up a step on their pay band. Of 638 competency assessment reviews done in that time 484 got a B and thus automatically moved up a step on their pay band, and 137 got an A, moving up two steps. 17 received a C and and entered a review process where they would be reassessed within three months.

Last year Finsec members actively campaigned to ensure that ANZ National’s new competency assessment system was as objective and fair as possible. So it is good to see that most workers have been able to progress to their next pay step. And, as always, we’re interested to hear from any members about how they are finding the new process so we can continue to negotiate for further improvements.
