Westpac restructuring: Finsec meets with bank to say slow down

Finsec members met with Westpac on Wednesday to hear the bank’s response to feedback received from staff and Finsec about their restructuring proposal.

Finsec’s main messages were echoed by new Union Councillor and delegate Norah McGrath from 79 Queen St branch. “This process has been very rushed and it needs to be slowed down. At my branch we’re most concerned about how it is implemented so Finsec’s messages about the process are very important.”

Westpac has undertaken to send Finsec a formal response to our 16 key recommendations from our submission but have confirmed that it is not their intention to force people into roles against their wishes or to reduce staffing numbers, and that there does need to be further discussion and consultation on some of the issues we have raised.
