The pressure of performance management systems and the constant push to cut costs is felt by all staff who work in banks, not only those who work for the bank. Finsec’s sister union, the Service and Food Workers Union, has raised a particular case of cleaners working at ANZ National sites in Wellington.
These cleaners are facing harsh pressure about the quality of their work at the same time talks take place about the price of contracts for next year. It’s a good time to think about our fellow union members doing different roles on site. The staffing and targets issues we deal with in the banks are very similar to the work pressures bought to bear on our cleaners.
